Now the eDOT position description
for the position title of “Automobile Mechanic” is displayed.
Next we will perform an Individual Residual Functional Capacity filter
in order to find alternate positions for Al. You’ll use the Individual
RFC tab to input the individual’s identification information,
diagnoses, and impairments. By selecting values in the ‘Personal’
column on the Physical Capacities and Mental
Capacities tabs, you will create a filter that is then used for
the Alternate Job List and Job Availability
tabs.
Here's how:
| Step
1: |
Click on the Individual
RFC tab.
 |
| Step
2: |
Select the Physical Capacities
subtab. You will notice that under this subtab are additional tabs
for the following types of limitations: Exertional, Postural, Manipulative,
Communicative, Visual, and Environmental. Select the Exertional Limitations
tab.
 |
| Step
3: |
Notice that there are 2
columns of information by each descriptor: one for eDOT and one for
Personal. The eDOT column describes the normalized measure of the
last job entered. We will modify the Personal column to delineate
Al’s physical limitations. Under question #1 for occasional
lifting, put a checkmark next to ‘20 pounds’. Under question
#2 for frequent lifting, put a checkmark next to ‘10 pounds’.
Under question #3 for standing and/or walking, put a checkmark next
to ‘about 6 hours’. Since Al is not limited in number
of hours for standing, there is no need to place a check mark in this
section.
